Snow Day!!!

Today it was 1 degree outside & it snowed so much everything was covered. I took the dogs out for a walk & they would sink in the snow I had to walk them on the sides where the snow was plowed a few minutes earlier as you can see by the paw prints oh & my foot prints the snow was already starting to cover up the cleared path. I have to wear layers of clothing it is sooooo cold outside...it makes me want to stay inside snuggled up with Louie, Lena & Mandarin..LOL

Another New Family Member

I know what you all are thinking...IS SHE NUTS!!! Why would she go out & get another animal? Well I am an animal lover you know thats why I wanted to become a Vet.

My mom was upset that I brought yet another mouth to feed but I knew she would get over it as she is also a animal lover...LoL My new baby's name is Mandarin he is a 10 year old Siamese cat. I adopted him from the same shelter that I adopted Lena at. I couldn't help myself he gets along great with Louie & Lena anytime he gets tired of them he jumps up high so they can't reach him..LoL

So now my home is complete, well it better be or my mom will really KILL me!!! I love cuddling up with all of them they all climb in my bed & sleep with me. My mother better get use to the idea that I am not having kids & that all the animals I have are her grandkids..LoL No but for real I am happy to have been able to give them a home that they can grow old in.

My 1st Snowy Day!

Ok WOW! On Nov 13th I got ready like i do every morning & when I stepped outside there was SNOW everywhere!!! I really didn't expect it to snow even though my mom had called me the night before & told me it was going to snow. It was about 27 degrees & I had to walk to school that day my car was covered in snow. It was cold & wet it even snowed on me as I walked to school...LOL It was so cool though because it was my 1st time ever seeing REAL snow! I took lots of pics and had to even put jackets on the dogs to walk them Lena didn't even want to go outside that's how cold it was.... I got to wear my boots, my new scarf & hat my sister got me......It was a BEAUTIFUL day!

I went to a pumpkin patch here and they had tons of pumpkins all sizes it was so much fun going to pick out my 1st pumpkin..LOL

Halloweenie!!!!

Well Halloween came & went so fast this year! It really felt weird not being home with my family going to trick or treat with my lil brother, Becca & Chicho. I did dress up my lil kids Louie & Lena. They were you guessed it lil hot dogs..LOL i took them to my school where they had a halloween parade & a costume contest. I was late getting there so they missed out on the contest but we had fun seeing all the animals dressed up for halloween not to mention the owners. Oh I also carved out my 1st pumpkin the pumpkin was so HUGE I was able to do Cinderellas face & the castle.

New Family Member

Well i know everyone must think I'm crazy I adopted another dog. I couldn't help it Louie needed someone to be with while I am in school. I felt so bad leaving him here all alone for such long periods of time. So I went out looking for the perfect roommate for my little wild man. I came across Thumbellina (Lena) for short. She is a 6 year old mini daschund she is actually smaller than Louie. She is red and such a sweet little girl I am so glad I found her and she is part of our family. It feels good to know that I rescued her and that she has a good home now. Here is a picture of my little Lena.

Arriving in Denver

Here are some pictures of my adventure moving to Denver from South Florida. We had a very rough trip. When we 1st arrived to the airport they were not going to let Louie fly with us. They said something about needing to have a letter from the vet saying he could fly. After we fixed that & we arrived to Denver we find out that the moving company was there before we got there & continued on so we werent getting my furniture until 4 days later...uggghhhh!!!! So since we had no furniture we had to stay in a hotel...it looked great by the outside but it was DISGUSTING on the inside. My mom prepaid for the week so we couldn't get our money back & it was the only place that allowed Louie..no wonder...lol
All in all the trip there was a disaster but we arrived safely & that is what counts.

Adventure Camp @ Busch Gardens

This was some of the pictures I took while I was at Adventure Camp. The camp was for college students interested in working in the animal field when they graduate. I basically was a zookeeper for a week. Everyday we would wake up at 5:30am get ready & head to meet up with all the zookeepers. I was assigned the to the large & small Primates & the caverns which held all the reptiles, kookaburras, fruit bats, mongoose lemurs & cotton top tamarins. My job was to feed, clean & observe the animals making sure they were all healthy & safe. We had to come up with daily enrichments to keep them busy. I also learned the nutrition aspect for each animal in my care. I got to be involved with the gorillas training sessions. My day usually ended at 5:30 depending on the care for the animals. The zookeeper hours that I worked ran about 12 hour shifts a day. It is a very hard job to be a zookeeper but an experience that I will never forget. I had a great time working with everyone @ Busch Gardens & made new friends.

New Blog

Today is the 1st day of my new blog. I set this blog up to keep in touch with everyone while I am away in Colorado. That way my family & friends that don't get on Myspace or Facebook can still see all the things that go on in my life even though I am over 2,000 miles away.

I also plan on keeping up with my progress towards my associates in vet technology. When I am done in Colorado I will hopefully transfer to University of Florida's Veterinarian Program where I plan on getting my degree in veterinarian medicine.

But there's still a long way to go before I get there...lol

I am a bit nervous but very excited to start a new chapter in my life. I already have an apartment to move into, I have a great roommate from California her name is Oni. We are both going to be in the same school together. She has been in Colorado for about 3 weeks now and has been giving me the scoop on life in Colorado.

I will be leaving home on Sept. 23rd WOW I cant believe it is almost time for me to go it seems like just yesterday I was just graduating. The summer sure has come & gone so quickly.
